Isaac Dogboe lost the WBO Featherweight world title fight to Cuban boxer Robeisy Ramirez in the United States of America.

The Ghanaian pugilist struggled as the judges scored in favour of Ramirez at the end of the bout via a unanimous decision.

The one-sided bout saw the judges score 117-110, 118-109, 119-108 for the Cuban fighter.

The hugely-patronize fight saw Ramirez seize control of the fight early in the first round despite Dogboe having his own moments.

The best of Dogboe was exhibited in the third round but it was short-lived as Ramirez regained his foothold.

The Cuban dominated and stood firm in his defenses as he stopped the Ghanaian from feeling comfortable in the ring.

The defeat is Dogboe's third in his career and the first in his new division.

Dogboe reacts after defeat to Ramirez

He said:

“I’ll like to apologise to my coaches and to the people out there who wished me well. We didn’t get the result we wanted. But we’ll definitely be back,” he said, as quoted by myjoyonline.

“I fell short tonight. Congratulations to Robeisy Ramirez, he’s a terrific fighter. He’s a great guy. I was the aggressor [but] I guess I wasn’t aggressive enough.

“I guess I couldn’t push enough as we all would have loved me to push but I’ll be back.”

Dogboe gets shot at title fight

Earlier, Sports Brief reported that Ghanaian boxer Isaac Dogboe grinds out a splendid split points victory over America's Joet to win the WBO International featherweight title.

A WBC featherweight title eliminator, Dogboe has put himself up for a shot at the WBC featherweight title next as he chases his dream of becoming a two-time world champion.

The fight was held at the Grand Casin in Hinckley, Minnesota on Saturday.
